An Improbable Secret: What I Will Never Write Down

Whenever someone presents me with the impossible-riddle, “What is something that someone should know about you that you will never write down?” I always liked to play with paradoxical responses like “This statement is false.” But let me be clear: stating this answer here means I no longer keep it secret.

However, I find myself stumped when it comes to answering this question. How am I supposed to reveal something about myself that I will never pen down? I cannot share my interpretive dance routines or mime skills through text alone. Even if I were to create cartoons or an animated storyboard, it would be a challenging and time-consuming task.

As a regular person, I find it difficult to stand out. My personality is not particularly intricate or enigmatic, and I have never hidden any truths from those who need to know. In short, there is nothing specific I am forever keeping to myself; everything I won’t write down does not necessitate any specific disclosure.

The question itself is paradoxical. For it to be valid, one must not write down something they think should be known, and yet, to answer the question, one must write down that specific thing, thus making it accessible in some form.

After much deliberation, I admit: I have been typing this response knowing that, by doing so, I break the original rule. Yet, it is a small price to pay to engage in an intriguing paradox. And, much like the statement itself, sharing this piece with you negates the necessity of never writing it down.

Living with the accepted laws of implication and causality, I can now look at this conundrum with a newfound perspective. What matters is that you, the reader, gain value and insight from the journey of this discussion, even if the end result allows for something once secret to become known.
