Duran Duran Celebrates 40 Years with a Party Themed Music Video

Duran Duran, the iconic British band, has released a lighthearted 'Anniversary' music video that features them mingling with celebrity look-alikes at a decadent castle-set party. Directed by artist filmmaker and photographer Alison Jackson, the video is a celebration of the band's 40th anniversary.

Video Brief Overview and Production

The video is a fun and entertaining piece that showcases Duran Duran hanging out with doppelgangers of famous figures such as Elton John, Daniel Craig, Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton, and even featuring themselves. The video includes scenes of dancing, playing poker, a red carpet-style entrance, and a climactic moment where almost everyone dives into a pool.

Directors' Statement

Alison Jackson, the director, expressed her excitement about the project, stating, 'I was thrilled to have been asked to create the video, bringing together iconic celebrities from both past and present to create an iconic party for their 40th anniversary.'

Music Video Content and Highlights

Bassist John Taylor provided insight into the meaning behind the track, mentioning that 'Anniversary' is a 'special song for us.' He elaborated, 'Obviously, we were conscious of our own impending 40th anniversary of making music together, but we wanted the song’s meaning to be inclusive in the broadest possible way. After playing and working together for so long, we very much appreciate what “being together” and “staying together” can really mean. It’s not something we would have thought song-worthy 40 years ago, but we do today!'

Track and Album Details

The recently issued 'Anniversary' song will appear on Duran Duran's upcoming 15th album and first in six years, titled 'Future Past,' which is set for release on October 22. The 12-track album also features the lead single 'Invisible,' along with guest spots from Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, keyboardist Mike Garson from David Bowie's band, and Lykke Li.

Return to Live Performances

In mid-September, Duran Duran returned to live performance, playing their first full-length concert since fall 2019 in their hometown of Birmingham, England. This event marked a significant moment for the band, reaffirming their commitment to their fans and their enduring legacy in the music industry.

Duran Duran continues to captivate audiences with their timeless hit songs and innovative approach to music, making their 40th anniversary not just a milestone but a celebration of their unique musical journey.
