Would Jeremy Corbyn Accept a Knighthood?
Probably not. Though I doubt he would ever be offered one and he certainly doesn’t deserve one, given his track record. If it were up to me, I would quite happily give an honorary Knighthood to Trump rather than Corbyn.
Political Hypocrisy and Ideological Stance
It wouldn’t surprise me given how hypocritical he is. Corbyn often criticizes the government and institutions, yet his actions and statements sometimes contradict his own ideology. Furthermore, he doesn't seem to have a positive regard for the monarchy. He is a Republican who disapproves of unelected heads of state and the deeply reactionary, anti-meritocratic institution of the monarchy. As an anti-imperialist, Corbyn likely would also disapprove of honours handed out on behalf of the British Empire, which he views as a bloodthirsty and oppressive force.
Political Precedence and Customary Practice
Unless he becomes Prime Minister, it is of course unlikely that Corbyn would be in contention for a knighthood. In recent decades, there has been a custom of awarding former Tory MPs knighthoods, such as Sir Edward Heath, Sir John Major, or Dame Margaret Thatcher. Former Labour Prime Ministers, however, have not been afforded such honors, with notable exceptions like Sir James Callaghan, Sir Tony Blair, and Sir Gordon Brown. This could indicate political bias and further reduce the likelihood of Corbyn receiving a knighthood.
Past Examples and Context
The now-ill John Prescott, a former Labour leader, said he never would, but under pressure from his wife, he eventually did accept a knighthood. It's a complex situation, and it remains to be seen if Corbyn would face similar circumstances if he were ever in a position to receive such an honor.
Corbyn's Disgraceful Behaviors and Regard for the Sovereign and Armed Forces
Who in their right mind would ever suggest he be awarded such an honor? This man has associated with known terrorists, refused to sing the National Anthem, refused to pay homage to his Queen, and has no respect for his country's armed forces. He has shown disrespect to the Queen's guests and the President of the United States, openly showing an enemy attitude towards his own nation. Corbyn's refusal to attend celebrations honoring past achievements and his disrespectful behavior towards people in high office also speak volumes about his character and values.
Given his well-known dislike of the entire process, it is unlikely that Corbyn would accept an offer of knighthood even if one were to be presented to him. His track record and ideological beliefs make it a highly improbable and undeserved honor for him.
Finally, it's worth noting that the decision to award a knighthood is a political process that can sometimes be influenced by factors other than the individual's personal qualities or actions. However, based on Corbyn's current standing and past behavior, it is highly unlikely that he would be in a position to receive such an honor, let alone accept it.
